Photography

The mechanic who works on my car has the distinction of being one of a handful of people certified to work on the Mercedes SLR. I took this photo one day when I stopped by his shop. It's easy to get a great shot when you have a car like that sitting in the background.

My brother used to own this Convertible D. Very rare. It always bothered me that he never got any good photos of it, so this past summer I tracked down the new owner and took some shots. (Click on photo to see before & after editing images.)

The idea for this card was to do a mock version of a Rolling Stone cover. It was intended to be fun, yet still reflect the spirit of the season. I shot a variety of family portraits before settling on this image. Once I had the photo, I edited it into the final format and then created the cover elements to complete the vision. In an effort to save money, our church decided to produce a member directory in-house rather than pay to have it done. I volunteered to take the portraits. It proved to be beneficial in ways I hadn't expected because the repetition of the setting gave me an opportunity to focus on the character of the subjects. It was a good learning experience.
